This year's primary election was a good one for new candidates.
Many high profile incumbents were defeated by primary challengers who are questioning whether the Legislature has truly had teachers, and other working West Virginians in mind these past few years.
In a Metro News piece focusing on political newcomers, WV Senate District 17 candidate Terrell Ellis had this to say about her platform

“I happen to be pro-economic development, I’m pro-business,” she said. “I just happen to think you can do all of that without affecting working families.”
She’ll face 17th District Senator Tom Takubo, R-Kanawha, in the fall. Ellis said she’ll begin knocking on doors again in a few days.
